To start taking payments online, define one specific sale: what you sell, the amount, where the customer buys and what happens after payment. That gives you a basis for choosing the bank, payment service and website connection without designing the technical setup first.
Prepare this before requesting a quote
| Detail | What to write down |
|---|---|
| Product or service | Exactly what the buyer receives |
| Price and schedule | One payment, instalments or renewals |
| Sales channel | Website, store or sale agreed over messages |
| Delivery | How the product is sent or service opened |
| Current setup | Platform and bank, if already selected |
| Main difficulty | What prevents you from taking payments today |
For example, a fictional service at an agreed price may need a simpler journey than a store with stock and delivery. Compare these situations in our guide to payment journeys.
What should you check with the bank?
Explain your activity and how you expect to sell. Ask which service supports your business, what the terms are and what integration is required. The bank should confirm the application documents for your circumstances.
If you already have a payment service, check what it supports before assuming it must be replaced. A physical card terminal and an online payment service may also involve different arrangements.
What does setup include?
The quote should say who prepares the offer, connects payments, verifies status updates and shows you how to follow a sale. Separate this initial work from regular charges and transaction fees. Use our payment cost comparison.
“It’s connected” is not enough evidence. Ask to see a test sale with the right amount, confirmed payment and updated order or service. Include an unfinished payment so you know how to recognise it.
Start with the need
If you have not chosen a platform or bank, say so. Your first-sale worksheet is enough to start a useful discussion and establish which decisions come first.
At AndorPay, we can review that first payment with you and identify the work needed to prepare it.
