Choosing a Stripe alternative for subscriptions means checking who can process payments for your business and who will manage the service between payments. Accepting a card does not, by itself, manage plans, cancellation or customer access.
If you first need to check account eligibility, read our guide to Stripe availability in Andorra. This article focuses on the subscription journey as a whole.
Three approaches to consider
| Approach | When to consider it | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Bank payment service plus management software | You want to build around your existing bank | Recurring payment support, compatibility and scheduling responsibility |
| Provider offering subscriptions | You want more functions in one service | Business eligibility, specific integration and plan limits |
| Subscription plugin for your store | Your sales and customers already sit in an ecommerce platform | Plugin, gateway and renewal compatibility |
These approaches can overlap. A plugin may connect to a bank service. Compare the complete setup and establish who handles a problem when one part fails.
MONEI publishes a subscription payment service. You still need to confirm activation and compatibility with your platform. It would be inaccurate to dismiss it as supporting only one-off payments.
Ask to see more than the first payment
Use a fictional example: a €30 monthly service with access starting after payment confirmation.
- The customer sees the price, frequency and terms before signing up.
- The first confirmed payment opens the relevant service period.
- Renewal follows the agreed schedule and authorisation.
- An unsuccessful payment has a recorded outcome and a clear next action.
- Cancellation stops future attempts when required while preserving the history.
Ask who owns each step and which parts need configuration or development. See our guide to subscriptions using your existing bank payment service to prepare the details.
Moving existing subscribers
Review plans, next payment dates, paid service periods and authorisations. Do not assume stored card references can move between providers. Plan the transition before disabling the existing setup, and avoid scheduling two charges for the same period.
Reviewing your setup with AndorPay
We start with what you sell and the systems you already use. Tell us your platform, bank and basic subscription rules. We can then define the integration and the work a proposal needs to cover.
