If you already have a bank payment service, start by checking your agreement and what your platform can manage. Do not assume everything needs replacing, or that a service for one-off purchases already covers subscription renewals.
Prepare this information
| Component | Useful details |
|---|---|
| Bank | Institution, contracted service and contact |
| Merchant setup | Enabled operations and test environment |
| Platform | Store, application or system delivering the service |
| Offer | Price, frequency, duration and cancellation terms |
| Initial authorisation | How the customer authorises future charges |
| Access | What opens after confirmed payment |
| Administration | Who handles errors, documents and changes |
This worksheet makes the discussion specific. Do not send secret credentials or card details in a sales enquiry.
Who does what?
The bank confirms the payment operations. Subscription software determines what is due and when charging should stop. The store or application manages access to the service. For a Redsys setup, see the recurring payment requirements.
Plugin or custom integration?
A plugin may fit if it supports your exact platform, gateway and renewal combination. A custom integration may be needed for an application you have developed or rules that the connector does not support.
Compare maintenance, updates, failure handling and support responsibility. Installing a connector does not prove the complete journey works.
Test a full renewal journey
Using fictional data, create a subscription, confirm the initial payment, identify the activated period and check the next renewal. Then test cancellation and an unsuccessful renewal. A repeated notification should not activate the service twice or request another charge.
For each step, record the expected result, observed result and person responsible for any mismatch. Our testing guide helps organise these checks.
Where should you start?
Tell us your bank, platform and planned subscription. We can review what can be kept and what needs preparing before you add more tools or replace the existing system.
